MTR, the specialty mobility solutions provider of Motrex Group, has announced the additional supply of its CV1-DRT electric minibuses to Seoul’s Walkerhill Hotel, expanding its eco-friendly demand-responsive transit (DRT) business into the hotel, resort, and private mobility sector.

MTR supplied two of its self-developed CV1-DRT electric minibuses—based on Hyundai’s ST1 electrified business platform—to the mobility service upgrade project led by Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Walkerhill Hotel & Resort (hereafter “Walkerhill”). Full-scale service started in time for the peak summer season.

Walkerhill is a leading hotel in Seoul, welcoming over two million visitors annually and spanning around 480,000 square meters, with guest rooms, leisure facilities, restaurants, banquet halls, and more distributed across the site. The hotel has regularly operated circular electric shuttles to enhance guest mobility, and to accommodate increased summer demand, is now expanding to a tailored shuttle service linked with Hyundai and Kia’s Shucle demand-responsive mobility platform.

The newly deployed CV1-DRT is an 11-seater electric minibus, independently developed and manufactured by MTR on the Hyundai ST1 platform. Optimized for DRT, the vehicle features superior maneuverability, quiet operation, and eco-friendliness—ideal for call-based, short-distance, and repetitive trips within closed or semi-closed environments like hotels, enhancing both guest convenience and operational efficiency.

Guests can summon shuttle vehicles using Hyundai/Kia’s Shucle DRT platform, allowing convenient movement to key locations on the hotel grounds, such as guest rooms, leisure facilities, and restaurants. MTR not only supplies the vehicles, but also provides electric mobility solutions optimized for DRT operations, aiming to significantly elevate the overall guest travel experience.

This Walkerhill project is particularly significant as it marks the expansion of MTR’s accumulated DRT operational expertise into the private sector. The company has built up electric DRT service experience in partnership with Hyundai and Kia across various communities, including the “Happy Bus” in Seosan (Chungcheongnam-do), “Tok Bus” in Icheon (Gyeonggi-do), and “Gachitayu” in Cheongyang (Chungcheongnam-do). Recently, MTR extended its reach to a university environment by supplying the CV1 for the Seoul National University Gwanak Campus DRT pilot project.

Leveraging its proven DRT operation know-how from public and campus domains, MTR plans to further expand its electric DRT platform supply to cover hotels, resorts, industrial complexes, airports, major hospitals, corporate campuses, and other zones with concentrated transportation demand. The company’s strategy is to strengthen competitiveness within the B2B mobility market through tailored electric specialty vehicle solutions that simultaneously address customer convenience, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

An MTR representative stated, “The Walkerhill case demonstrates that electric DRT holds strong competitiveness not only in public transit, but also in private mobility markets such as hotels. Moving forward, MTR will continue to collaborate with Hyundai and Kia to provide environmentally friendly transportation solutions optimized for various spaces, further expanding the electric specialty mobility market.”
