▶ Exploring the integration of AI-based audio source separation, spatial audio, and volume control technologies

▶ Implementing next-generation user experiences such as ‘Smart Fade’, which automatically adjusts volume by recognizing conversations inside the vehicle

▶ Strengthening AI-based IVI competitiveness through collaboration with Gaudio Lab, recognized for CES Innovation Awards and global industry references

Motrex has entered into a technical partnership with Gaudio Lab to apply Gaudio Lab’s proprietary AI audio technologies to its in-vehicle IVI mass-production products.

Through this collaboration, Motrex aims to proactively address the evolving needs of automotive OEMs in the era of Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs)

and enhance its competitiveness in AI-powered sound user experiences.

Gaudio Lab specializes in AI-driven audio source separation, spatial audio, and volume management technologies. The company boasts an impressive track record,

including four consecutive CES Innovation Awards, adoption of its technology as the ISO/IEC MPEG-H 3D Audio international standard,

and partnerships with major global platforms and companies such as Naver, SBS, Hyundai Mobis, and Melon.

Key technologies under consideration by both companies include high-quality AI-based spatial audio, the internationally standardized loudness management technology LM1 (Loudness Management 1),

and Smart Fade, an innovative AI-powered audio feature. The high-quality spatial audio solution utilizes AI to separate sound sources and reposition them to create an immersive listening experience tailored to the vehicle cabin. LM1 automatically manages volume differences that may occur when switching between radio, USB, Bluetooth, and other sources in accordance with global standards.

Notably, Smart Fade is an exclusive technology from Gaudio Lab based on proprietary AI algorithms. It detects passengers’ voices in the vehicle and automatically lowers

the audio volume when a conversation begins during content playback, then smoothly restores the original volume when the conversation ends.

This enables seamless listening and in-car communication without manual adjustments, positioning it as a groundbreaking user experience for next-generation vehicles.

Through this partnership, Motrex plans to evolve its IVI systems beyond simple content playback devices into AI-driven digital cabin platforms.

With the spread of SDVs and intelligent cabins transforming vehicle interiors into dynamic spaces for both content consumption and communication,

AI audio technology is expected to become a core competitive advantage in the future automotive infotainment sector.

A Motrex representative commented, “This collaboration is not just about AI marketing—it is about securing practical AI audio technology that can be integrated into mass-produced in-vehicle IVI systems.

We will continue to drive innovation in intelligent audio technology leveraging on-board AI semiconductors (NPUs) and create next-generation in-car infotainment environments

that deliver tangible sound experiences drivers can truly feel—even without external connections.”
